`Los Invasores’ (The Invaders) is a video that records the experience of travelling with 11 other artists through a disputed territory in the Terrestrial Triangle on the Chile-Peru border during the Hawapi residency.
The Invaders records the collective action of marking the movements and routes that the participants produced during the residency on the land that had recently been cleared of mines. The use of sticks, poles and branches covered with reflective tape would make it possible, especially at night, to mark the routes along which one could travel without fear, or at least with less chance of encountering a stray anti-personnel mine.
Unexpectedly for the artists, the intervention turned out to be interpreted by the residents of the village of Santa Rosa as a foreign claim on their land, rather than as a way of making the area more accessible.
